The Mexican government through its embassies in East Africa is offering scholarships in 2008 for plastic artists (sculptors and artists working with materials that can be moulded or modulated, such as clay) in the region to create a work in Mexico under the guidance of a local or foreign artist living in the country. The scholarship covers travel costs, medical insurance and a monthly allowance. The final date for applications is 15 July and the results will be announced in December. Successful candidates are required to undertake a course in Spanish before departure.
