This years best African act award at the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) awards has gone to Ghanaian hiplife artist Batman Samini. The musician stood against fellow Africans from Uganda, South Africa and Nigeria at the live music competition at Londons Royal Albert Hall on 20 September. He will be welcomed back to Ghana on 14 October with a party at the Boomerang nightclub in Accra, the independent weekly Public Agenda reports.

The MOBO awards are held annually in Britain to recognize artists of any race, ethnicity or nationality performing music of black origin. Last year UK-based Ghanaian Derek Sway Safo won the MOBO award for best hip hop act.
