The famous Moses Ben Maimon synagogue in the present-day el-Gamalia quarter of Old Cairo is undergoing restoration as part of a project to refurbish ten Jewish synagogues across the country.

Work began in June and is expected to take a year, according to Dr. Zahi Hawass, head of Egypt
