A Raisin in the Sun

13-28 April 2012. The Phoenix Players perform this drama, entitled A Raisin in the Sun, written by Lorraine Hansberry, directed by George Mungai and produced by Millicent Ogutu and George Mungai.

It tells the story of a poor family, who loses their father. As the father’s insurance money comes in, the widow uses to buy a new house in a swanky neighbourhood in order to fulfil the father’s wishes. But as they move into the new house, they realize that it reserves them ugly reality, which they don’t belong to.

The cast includes Sam Gichira, Angela Mwandia, Alison Nyawira, Bruce Makau, David Opondoe, Darshani Haria, Esther Neema, Likarion Wainaina, Maina Olwenya and Njoki Ngumi.
