1 July-31 Dec 2006. Cross and Crescent. Ethiopia as an Example of Religious Coexistence is an on-line exhibition compiled by the Johannes Gutenberg-Universitt Mainz and hosted by the new website of the Goethe-Institut in Addis Ababa. Texts and photographs explore the cultural and religious unity in diversity of Ethiopia with a special focus on issues such as religious study and pilgrimage, places of worship and artistic expression in Christianity and Islam. The Ethiopian population is split between Muslims (45 per cent) and Ethiopian Orthodox Christians (40 per cent).
